Communication is the number one skill an employer looks for when hiring, making it a key transferable skill in the workplace. An effective communicator has the opportunity to excel in the workplace, as they are often the first in line for raises and promotions. This workshop focuses on workplace communication basics, verbal communication, nonverbal communication, and active listening. Participants will engage in exercises to understand the significance of both verbal and nonverbal communication in their personal and future professional lives.  A special emphasis is placed on understanding your audience and participants will practice adjusting their communication technique based on the formality of the receiver. 

 

Target Audience: In-School Youth, Out-of-School Youth

 

Essential Questions: By completion of this workshop, participants should be able to answer the questions:

·       What makes someone an effective communicator?

·       How do I adapt my communication skills based on the audience?
