In order to obtain any employment position, a resume is required. But there is a difference between an average, run-of-the-mill resume and a standout resume. Having a standout resume increases the likelihood of securing a coveted position. This workshop walks participants through the five components that are needed to create a standout resume. First, this workshop defines resume and discusses its need, function, and importance. Then it highlights the five aspects of a standout resume. This workshop highlights the importance of a clean and concise resume, responding directly to the job description, using action words, emphasizing transferable skills, and quantifying accomplishments. Participants will learn about applicant tracking systems (ATS) and how to best format their resume to beat an ATS. Participants will engage in exercises to help them determine their own transferable skills as well as practice quantifying accomplishments. By the end of this workshop, participants should have the knowledge required to create a standout resume.
