Goal setting is an important aspect of personal and professional development. Setting goals can be difficult, as setting goals too high may be discouraging and setting goals too small may be too easy. This workshop first discusses why goal setting is important and then examines how to write effective goals in order to achieve educational and employment aspirations. This workshop defines both long-term and short-term goals as well as how to craft a S.M.A.R.T. goal. Participants will engage in exercises helps them reflect on the importance of goal setting and potential obstacles to goal setting. Participants will learn how to create an action plan for goals as well learn how to craft S.M.A.R.T. goals. At the end of this workshop, participants will be tasked with determining a long-term goal, supporting short-term goals, and creating action steps to achieve the goal.
Target Audience: In-School Youth, Out-of-School Youth
