Full course description
There are many ways to communicate a thought, even more so when you consider both the sender’s and receiver’s preferred method of obtaining information. Knowing one’s communication style and learning the style of others can drastically improve one’s communication skills. This workshop focuses on not only examining the four different communication styles and identifying one’s personal communication style, but also on understanding how one’s communication style impacts communicating effectively with others. Participants will define communication style as well as each of the four styles: Relator, Thinker, Socializer, and Director. Participants will engage in exercises to determine certain characteristics of each communication style as well as take a short quiz to determine their preferred method of communication. Participants will also review best practices for communicating with all four communication styles. By the end of this workshop, participants will understand how knowing their own personal communication style can help them effectively communicate with others.
